Hello from the stranger

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. Last time I posted I invited you to follow our travel adventures in Turkey. The adventures were so amazing we were dead beat every night and never had the energy to actually blog. The trip was amazing!!! I am hoping that we will get the blog finished at some date in the not too distant future but we have had a little bit too much on our plate since we came home.

On the last day of the trip I fell and tore the ligaments in my foot. It was a fun trip home... NOT!!!

Anyway, while we were away my father-in-law who we look after here at home, stayed in a respite centre. He has Alzheimer's (dam that beast) and he deteriorated quite a bit while we were away. Long story short we had to accept we could no longer take care of him here at home any more and he had to be placed in a care facility. It was the very hardest thing we have ever gone through and broke our hearts. The staff are wonderful and now that he is settled in he is doing very well. :-)

Then we decided to sell our home, buy a new home and it all happened within a couple of weeks after we came home. We move January 17th!!

I hope to get back to more dedicated photography in the new year and hope to join the next round again altho it will most likely be March before I can commit.

I am going to spend some time on my next layover catching up with all the blogs I follow, I have missed your wonderful talent!!!

An Amazing Day

So tomorrow is a HUGE day for this little family. Tomorrow  my wonderful husband turns 60. Hard to believe. He is so young at heart and makes me happier every day I know him.

Tomorrow my youngest son gets married. Mike, we love you and adore your wonderful new , soon to be, wife Christina (aka Teeny)
Teeny we are so happy to have you join our family..you fit us like a glove and we love you so much.

I feel so so blessed. Tomorrow is going to be a perfect day. :-)

On another note. Richard and I are going to be going away for a long awaited vacation next week. The trip of a life time really. We will be going to Hamburg to visit the family I was a nanny for about 35 years ago!! Then we will travel on to Turkey. Spending a week in Istanbul, taking in a U2 concert (the instigator of the whole trip), and then traveling around the country for a couple of weeks. We will return about the 21st of September rested and ready to take on the world again.

Thanks John and pat for staying at the house and looking after the Pup and the Fish and the Tomatoes...

It has been both a wonderful and a hard year for us as a family.
 Tomorrow is going to be an amazing day and the start of many amazing adventures to come...

Truely I am still alive...I think....

Wowser! I am just hopping int o let you know I am still alive (if anyone out there still checks the old blog). I just seem to have been super busy the last couple of months. Flying more than ever, the garden needs lots of work and my son is getting married next month and thats building up...so I have not had loads of time for the camera.

Nothing is going to change very much in the next month or two. Right after the wedding Richard and I are off on the adventure of a lifetime...we are taking a 3 week tour of Turkey which will include a U2 concert in Istanbul. We will be home from that toward the end of September. I can assure you there will be photos of that trip somewhere that I will share :-) In the mean time I will be back to visit you all. I leave for a week in ireland tomorrow and August is already a write off for time so it may be the end of September until i get a chance to feel life is settled again.

Hope you are all doing well. I'll have my laptop in ireland with me and may have time to check some blogs.

May Mini Assignment - Close to Home

Just feet from my door is the arbour we built...and the white wisteria that takes my breath away every year :-) The white variety also has an amazing fragrance that floats into the house in the evenings. Here is what it looks like outside the door at the entrance to the garden...

and here is my take on it..from below. This was my favourite of the day

The clusters continue to grow so long...up to almost two feet before they die off. You have to dip your head to go under them !

 my amazing nephew and his mate who make us so proud. That's Teagan on the left. He writes that he is loving his time in Afghanistan and it is a beautiful country. Come home safe sweetie...

 

May #13 - Wildlife

While unsuccessfully waiting to try to capture the hummingbirds in my garden I settled on the Golden Finches..AKA Greedy Guts.  These bird feeders will put us in the poor house yet!!

Weekend Mini Assignment - Circles

last weekend when we were making the wedding invitations my son made Pioneer Woman's Cinnamon buns for the girls...lots of disappearing circles

I have never tasted anything to amazing..you have to make these...and don't be skimping on the butter etc...it is worth every finger lickin' calorie!
