Hello..we are alive and well in Vancouver! LOL
Our trip to Turkey was amazing and wonderful and everything we had wished for and then some. The only thing we did not forsee was the level of activity every day and the amount of walking and exploring and driving and seeing and doing that we had apparently booked LOL! By the time we got to our beds in the evening we would pass out..and we had big plans to write it all the week after we got home....
The last day of the trip...after a month of climbing over ancient ruins, hiking mountains in the dark to see flames shooting out of the tops, we were about 10 minutes from our hotel after a last visit to istanbul city...when i fell in a hole in the sidewalk. Tore the ligament in my ankle and spent our last afternoon in the emergecy at an Istanbul hospital. Eventually we will tell you the whole story.
The strapped and wrapped me and gave me painkillers for the trip home. It was long and sore but the staff of both Turkish Airlines and Air Canada were totally awesome! We came home and took one day before going to pick up G'dad from the care facility where he had stayed while we were away. That was when we found out he had deteriorated very much and they felt he needed 24 hour care and we could not offer that level of care here at home. So we put him on alist to get into a full care facility, that took about 10 days, took him in, couldn't leave him there, tears and heartbreak, brought him home, hired help for 12 hours a day, and still we could no longer tae care of him to the level he now needed. With breaking heart we had to take him back to the care facility. It was the single hardest thing we have ever faced in our lives. Today he is settling in and doing well. The staff are amzing and loving. It's certainly not perfect but it is a good place and we know he is taken care of 24/7.
So, that was very hard, and all the while icing and elevating the foot which was killing me with pain. We then decided the time had come to sell the house...that sold within a week.
We found a house within a week...and we will be moving on January 15th!!! GAG!!!
nothing like taking it all on in one short period huh?
The good news is... G'dad is doing well, my foot is just about healed, I start back to work on the 15th of November, we sold the house with no fuss, we found a house with no fuss and life as we know it is maybe back to normal...whatever that is.
So...maybe now we can do a little travel blogging...we will try anyway between starting to sort the house etc out and declutter....oh lord....I am not looking forward to that LOL.
Stick with us....follow the blog so you will see when we update....and hopefully we will slowly get it done.
Suffice it to say...it was truely the trip of a lifet time!!!
