When I saw THIS tutorial I just had to try it as I want to make my friend's baby announcements for her (Due June 01st!). I cut the paper for mine wrong  so this ended up with the pockets on the left side but this is just the prototype so thats OK! :-)

The announcement is on the first tabbed section and the second tab would hold the photo. I'll show her next time I see her and see what she thinks..thanks Paula for the tutorial.

We know it is a girl and so we can add the name etc on the outside if she wishes to.

Heartfelt.

Yesterday was a sad day. We celebrated the life of a dear friend. It was so hard, Rod was our age and such a wonderful person who lived life to the fullest each and every day.

I wanted to make a card for his wife and did not want to make a dark card as nothing in his life was ever dark. So this is what I came up with. Very simple and says just what my husband and I wanted to convey to her and her 2 sons.

Thanks for all the wonderful memories Rod and all the belly laughs! You are missed but never forgotten.

Frayed at the edges....

While the renovation of my home have been going on I have had a few days where I have felt frayed ... and maybe that is why I love this frayed ribbon technique so much. LOL!

Played with the long notes tonight and also received the new Stampin' Success (SU Demo's awesome monthly business magazine!)  in the mail today and so, inspired by the card on the cover, this is what I came up with. Don't you love this frayed look? I attached them by opening the "legs" of the brad and slipping them around the 'frays' (what do you call those pieces?) then I closed them and slipped them through the flower centre (made a 1/16" inch hole so it stays nice and tight) making sure the brad was fixed securely in place. Don't you think it looks like a butterfly has landed on the flower?

Even later...or should I say early next morning...here is the final card..I knew it needed something and I think the tabs finished them off nicely? WDYT? Now I just have to write and send them off.

My friends little girl Emma says the darnedest things..they just crack us up all the time! So when I saw Linda Hansen's "Kids Quote" book done with our On-board 5x5 journal that she demoed at Leadership I knew just who to make one for! You just don't want to forget those precious moments.

This is the cover...thats all I managed to get done this evening...had to feed the hockey fans! I'll post the insides when I get more done ( and the outside as it evolves LOL, I've already distressed it a little since I saw the picture!

Could it actually be happening???? Could we actually see Spring this year?

Let me preface this post by saying it has been totally cold, wet and miserable the last couple of days here in Vancouver, preceded by about a month of cold wet and miserable weather.The forcast on friday was for days without end of more cold, wet, miserable weather. Fortunately, Tamara, our local TV weather girl, was way off for today! It was sunny and quite warm and felt so alive and fresh (well after all that rain it better be fresh!! )

This was the first and most awesome hint, my son came over to visit and said...why is the shrub humming? I went to check it out and it was COVERED in honey bees. I guess the warm sun today woke them up and they came out of their winter hibernation. Both my neighbor and us have honey bees houses. I could not believe how many were on this plant...I guess the fragrance drew them over. Not sure if you can see them in the picture unfortunately, there are about 4 or 5 in this shot.

One of the first bright flowers to bloom in my garden, the flowering Raspberry..no fruit but beautiful early blossoms and raspberry like leaves during the Summer.

I love all the new varieties of daffs but there is nothing like the old fashioned tall yellow ones for saying "Spring has Sprung!"

This was labeled as a Yellow Camellia but I think perhaps the label was wrong? LOL It stands right outside our back door and is the first thing I see every day. Yellow or red...I love it.

OK...the cold winter is going to have one BIG plus for me this Spring. Every year my HUGE Magnolia tree opens it giant blossoms way to early for Easter..and when I have the kids over for the annual Easter Egg hunt is is almost, if not totally finished leaving a messy garden behind.

This year we had such a cold winter that it is much later to open and I think perhaps it will be perfect for Easter....I'll take a picture when it is fully open and in it's glory!

The Canuck's are on the TV beating the Avalanche...and hoping it stays that way...I am going to stamp while the boys play..I'll post my creations later on if anything good happens LOL!

UPDATE: Grrr.. Canuck's lost in the shoot out! :-( they are still #1 in the Division but this would have assured them a spot in the playoffs...still have a few games to make it! GO 'NUCKS!

Not so sure about this one

I made this card the other night..and I was not feeling too inspired. I almost threw it in the trash..and then I thought...let it sit over night and see what the morning brings. It's morning and I am still not tooo sure but I don't dislike it as much, so I thought I would share it here and see what you all think?

Thumbs up or thumbs down for the Easter Bunny?

Quite a while ago I stamped some of the flower image from Doodle That...and while watching TV coloured them in and cut them out. I got a far as holding them against black card stock and decided that that was where they needed to go...but could not get the final layout on paper (or should I say card stock?) So tonight as I left my stamp room I noticed them sitting there in a little container with the black card and decided to finally get something put together. I wanted the look of gel pens on black paper...but not white...and then it hit me...our pastel coloured Embossing Powders might do the job. I used the doodle from Doodle This, the greeting from Polka Dots and Paisleys and the green and pink embossing powders.

I am thrilled with the result...and know those pastel EP's are going to finally get more use! Of course my artsy photography continues LOL! I think 3 posts in one evening are enough?

I'm Irish from Ireland so I should know...

I have seen so many wonderful Green cards created for St. Patrick's day..they are lovely..most of them are perfect...however a LOT of them are just plain WRONG!!! Here is the thing...St. Patrick is associated with the THREE LEAFED SHAMROCK...not the FOUR LEAFED CLOVER!! Not even the 3 leafed clover..it is way bigger than the Shamrock! The four leafed clover is a rare occurrence and said to bring luck. The Shamrock is what St Patrick used to explain the Hold Trinity to the pagans .. Father, Son and Hold Spirit..all part of one body (three leaves and one stem) ... nothing at all to do with luck. Somewhere along the way the Luck of the Irish, the luck of the Four Leafed Clover and the significance of the Shamrock got mixed up I guess.

The shamrock is a very tiny plant..very delicate and beautiful, that we wear on our lapels on St.Patrick's Day. It is said to only grow in Ireland and it is shipped all over the US etc for March 17th. each year. So if you go to buy Shamrock and it is has four leaves...you are not getting the real thing but you will have a Lucky Four leafed clover! LOL!

So please...please...next year for your St. Paddy's Day cards...remember ...only three  leaves and nothing to do with luck!!

Artsy Photography!!!

Well here it is..my first attempt at artsy fartsy photography! What do you think? This is one of the currently "hot" triangular folding cards. I used the stamp set "Best of Cluck". When this set was first available, I saw a card with the little chicks coloured in pastels and I have been wanting to make them every since...so here is my version.

The first picture is of the folded and tied card and the second picture is of the inside...isn't this set adorable? I used the new Double Sided Paper available in the new Spring Mini! Imagin SU being so awful...that have produced TWO, yes TWO minis in a row now that are making me drool! :-)

Dog Days...

No pictures today..but have made a card that I will upload tomorrow. Meantime...Cara our Cocker Spaniel has been blogging again and you can check out her exciting story here . She had such a fun day LOL.

Do you get frustrated when your photos don't come out as you imagined them? I was stalking some of my favourite blogs this evening while hubby watched the Canucks win! GO CANUCKS!!! The photographs in a few of them just take my breath away...check them out.

Tisha is a professional photographer...isn't she amazing?

Jefra is also a professional photographer...check out the self potrait with the fish! I adore that picture...if it was me I would probably have knelt down and narrowed the focus to the fish and the ice...DOH!

and this blog..sorry not sure what your name is? Maybe Daisy? Another professional...but check out her animal photos..I would give anything to be able to capture my dog's expressions like she does!

Ok..I will try to take an artsy photo tomorrow of a card and post it here for you all to see :-)
